Homegrown fast casual dining restaurant Max’s launched it’s first coffee table book last month. Aplty titled ” The House That Fried Chicken Built”, the book was written by celebrated writers Robert JA Basilio and Sonia Pinto Ner, niece of Max’s founder Maximo Jimenez.

Set against the backdrop of some of the most challenging periods in Philippine history, the 196-page book is filled with photographs and recounts the humble beginnings of Max’s: from a small cafe in Quezon city to what it is today.

“The House That Fried Chicken Built” is initially being sold at the Scout Tuason branch for Php 2,500.00. Part of the proceeds will be utilized for Max’s corporate social responsibility programs.

The Darren Criss Show at Trinoma

Darren Criss, who plays Blaine in the hit TV comedy/musical GLEE, was recently in town and performed two separate shows at the Ayala Malls. The first was at Greenbelt in Makati on December 21st; the second was at TriNoMa in Quezon City the following night. I went with some friends to the @nd show at Trinoma which started sometime past 7 P.M. and ended around 9 P.M.

He sang some original songs from his EP, as well as songs from A Very potter Musical and of course two songs from GLEE, one of which was Katy Perry’s “Teenaged Dream”.  Here are some photos from the show.
