Are you interested to join Super Chef 2010? Here are the contest guidelines.

CONTEST MECHANICS:

1. Contest is open to all cooking enthusiasts.

2.To join, just present a P1,000 single or accumulated purchase from SM Hypermarket, inclusive of at least one product from the following sponsors:

 

3.The contest is composed of 3 stages: audition, elimination and finals.

4.Criteria for judging:

50% Taste
25% Originality
15% Plating/Presentation
10% Affordability

AUDITION STAGE

Create your own version of Adobo, Kaldereta or Menudo and submit the finished product with proof of purchase at the appointed Hypermarket branch (see schedule below). You may submit as many dishes and join in any branch. Submissions will be accepted from 2 pm to 4 pm. The SM Hypermarket SUPER CHEF 2010

SM Hypermarket has launched the latest and greatest edition of its Super Chef series by turning it into a reality show – think Iron Chef meets American Idol meets Survivor.

Super Chefs is open to anyone who can cook, be they housewives, carinderia owners, culinary school students or professional chefs. The competition is divided into three stages: 1) audition; 2) elimination; and the 3) grand finals.

The Super Chefs grand finals will be aired on the Asian Food Channel and hosted by Chef Tristan Encarnacion.

To get qualified for the audition round, interested participants just need to present a P1,000 single or accumulated purchase from any SM Hypermarket inclusive of the sponsors’ product together with your cooked dish on the submission day. Throughout the competition, their creations will be judged by celebrities like Winnie Cordero and the country’s top chefs like Reggie Aspiras, to ensure that only the best survive.

The grand winner of the SM Hypermarket Super Chefs will get to take home a kitchen showcase worth P100,000 and go on a 4-day all-expense-paid trip to Singapore for a culinary training. Runner-ups will also win a P50,000, P25,000, P15,000 or P10,000 SM gift certificates.

Summer Komikon de Avance 2010

Summer is here and you know what that means! It’s time for the annual Summer Komikon at UP! Dubbed Summer Komikon de Avance, this year’s Summer Komikon will be held at the UP Bahay ng Alumni on April 17, 2010. The con will be between 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Entrance fee is Php 50.00. Fun activities include a comic cover recreation contest and a comic creation contest.

This comic convention holds a very special place in my heart because last year’s Summer Komikon was the first comic convention I ever went to. I got some really nice titles last year so thinking about what gems I might uncover this year  gets me so excited!

Jason Castro Live in Trinoma

jason3Jason Castro Live in Trinoma

Jason Castro is currently in the country touring and performing at Ayala malls to promote his debut album. Jason was one of my favorite contestants during American Idol’s 7th season, so I was excited to see him perform live. I went to watch him perform last night with my sister over at Trinoma.

We arrived just minutes before he was called, and everyone went wild when he finally stepped onto the stage! Strumming his guitar, he performed some songs from his self-titled debut album as well as “I’m Yours” on the ukelele, one of my favorites he did when he competed in American Idol. Jason closed the show with his single ” Let’s Just Fall In Love Again.”

After the show, some fans were given the chance to meet Jason with a ” meet and greet” segment, where they were able to have their cds signed and get their photo taken with him. Jason will be performing at Glorietta 5 this evening, and then over at Market Market and Cebu in the next few days. His debut album drops on April 13.
