SM City North Edsa teamed up with Sanrio last Christmas to celebrate the season by decorating areas in the mall’s complex with all things Hello Kitty. The sky garden was lined with Hello Kitty lamp posts and there were banners on the entryways, as well as inbetween the escalator hand rails. There were activities such as a fashion show that showcased the latest Hello Kitty clothing designs available at the department store; face painting; meet and greet with Hello Kitty; as well as exhibits of private collections of Hello Kitty items and the Christmas village in The Block.

I wasn’t able to see the private collections up until the last day of the exhibit period because I didn’t know there was another exhibit on the third floor of The Block. The Christmas village was on the 2nd floor. There were 4 houses in the village, each having at least one Hello Kitty character that’s about 2-3 feet high. Each house contained a different display. One had cakes made by Bread Talk and another had a bedroom showcase. I forgot what the other 2 had.

At the back of the Christmas village is a selling area of the SM Department Store and Sanrio where they sold lots of Hello Kitty goodies. We got some Hello Kitty jellies, cookies, and clothes here which we gave to the kids last Christmas. We also went to the “Meet and Greet” where our little girl had her picture taken with Hello Kitty.

The whole thing started on November 10 and ran until early in January. I’m not really a fan, but little girl loves Hello Kitty. It was nice to see her squeal in delight when she saw the exhibit. I hope they’d make something just as spectacular this year.
