before & after with gimp

I’ve been using GIMP for some months now for photo editing since I don’t have Adobe Photoshop. GIMP is a free image editor much like Adobe Photoshop which can be downloaded at gimp.org.

Now while I was more accustomed to using Photoshop, I’ve recently gotten the hang of GIMP. My skills aren’t anything spectacular, but it does get me by. I usually just use a photo editing software to crop and edit curves, adjust brightness-contrast, and put a watermark.

I’ve been experimenting with GIMP a little bit, and one of the things I recently did was change the color of the petals of the flowers in the photo above.

Originally, the petals are a violet-ish color. After doing some curves and contrast adjustments, I fiddled with the hue-saturation command in the colors tabs. I did some adjustments with the red and magenta. The end result is the phto above.
