One overcast afternoon, I took a trip to Manila to check out a museum. After I was done,  I decided to drop by Rizal Park which was just walking distance from where the museum was. I figured might as well drop by, since it’s on the way to the jeepney stop anyways. So, with my camera in hand, off I went. Aside  from the monument to Jose Rizal above, there are other attractions to see at the park, such as an art gallery and some gardens.

That day I decided to check out the Chinese Garden. If you are facing the monument, it occupies an area on the right side of the park. It’s really not hard to miss as you’ll see a big arch with Chinese symbols at the entrance of the Garden. There’s a small fee to pay at the entrance which, I think is about 5 or 10 pesos. PHL360º Airs First Ep Today

What is PHL360º? It’s a travel web series organized by travel advocates, bloggers, photographers and cinematographers. From their site:

“PHL360º is a fusion of reality TV and travel show that goes beyond the destination by promoting culture, people, heritage, environment preservation and patriotism. This reality travel show serves as our venue of fostering domestic and in-bound travel. “

The series focuses on the adventures of eight travellers as they go around the country, and their first episode airs later today. The episode, as well as trailers, are available over at PHL360º. Let’s all watch!

Desserts with a twist take center stage at The Maya Kitchen on July 7, Saturday, 9am-1pm as Chef Hasset Go, one of the youngest baking prodigies in the country shows off his skills. Chef Go will demonstrate Energy Mug Cake, Coconut Calamansi Squares, Banana Jubilee Crepe, Pastel Tres Leches, Pandan-White Chocolate Mango Cake, Low Sugar Citrus Cupcake Crème Brûlée and Custard Spring Rolls.

The 23-year-old chef is a native of Misamis, Occidental where he learned how to bake from his mother. He skipped college to right away train under some of the country’s premier pastry chefs. The young boy who used to sell yema, pastillas and brownies to his classmates is now the co-owner of MedChef Homemade Cakes, Pastries and Desserts. The business supplies cakes and other baked goods to institutional clients. He is now also a food stylist, chef instructor and consultant to food establishments.
