With the number of recent natural calamities affecting the country, creating a happier Christmas for Filipino children has become an urgent concern. Jollibee, together with Aga Muhlach and the Jolly Toy Scouts are raring to answer this call once again with the 15th year of MaAga ang Pasko. The longest running toy and book donation drive aims to continue spreading Christmas cheer to even more children in need, especially those affected by the recent unfortunate events.
The recently launched 15th Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko marks another important milestone as it takes the spirit of sharing and giving to even greater heights with more ways to make kids happy this Christmas season.
Introduced last year, the Jolly Toy Scouts proved to be a very valuable part of the campaign by helping reinforce its message of sharing in a fun and exciting way. More than 15,000 Jolly Toy Scouts from over 30 partner schools signed up last year to lead efforts in collecting donations for needy children.
This Christmas season, Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko expects even more volunteers, both young and old alike, to become ambassadors of spreading love and happiness. The Jolly Toy Scouts are set to enjoy a fun way to experience the joy of giving through collecting toys and books, helping clean up and pack gifts, and joining the distribution drives.
Pioneering the effort to involve the youth and young at heart as advocates of MaAga ang Pasko, Aga Muhlach himself was honored as a Toy Scout Troop Leader during last year’s campaign.
For over a decade, more than 1.5 million gifts have been collected, and for 2009, Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko aims to be an even bigger platform for sharing happiness by collecting an unprecedented number of donations for this year.
To celebrate its 15th year, Jollibee will match every donation with a Jollibee toy, effectively doubling the number of gifts to be collected this year.
This year’s MaAga ang Pasko becomes even more meaningful as it opens up new channels to encourage donations, spark volunteerism and implement activities that foster goodwill and sharing this Christmas time.
The campaign introduces a component: the ADOPT-A-SCHOOL program that encourages schools and various institutions to become a partner of a beneficiary school. All toys and books that they collect, as well as the corresponding toys to be given by Jollibee to match their collection, will be given to their partner beneficiary school.
This year’s MaAga and Pasko also aims to help schoolchildren affected by the recent natural disasters, as they will become part of the beneficiaries of the toys and books collected. Both Jollibee and Aga Muhlach – together with the Jollibee Foundation and the Jollibee Franchisees Association – have also committed to help renovate or construct several classrooms this year particularly in schools severely damaged by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.
Throughout the years, Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko has grown bigger with even more supporters and partner institutions that have become one with the campaign’s objectives. For this year, the campaign has tapped over 30 schools nationwide and over 20 partner companies to help spread the Christmas spirit of making children happier during Christmas.
